A trip in Amsterdam

Day one

Departure from Adria at  8.30 a.m. on 1st July 2017 by  car.

The round trip flight from Venice to Amsterdam and from Amsterdam to Venice costs 144£ per person. The departure is at 11.35 a.m. from Venice airport and the arrival at  Amsterdam airport  is at 1.40 p.m.. Once arrived we will buy the I Amsterdam Card for four days at the price of 83£. It is a travel card including free transports and free museums and attractions. We will leave the airport  around  2.20 p.m. We will take the Inter-city line railway  to reach the hotel Eden Amsterdam and the  cost of the ticket is 8£ per person. At  around  3 p.m. we should be at the hotel. We booked two rooms for two people each with only breakfast included. Located in the city center, 10 minutes by tram away from the central station, it offers warm coloured rooms with private bathroom and flat screen TV and free WiFi.  You can start to visit the city just going out of the hotel, thanks to the proximity with the attractions : you will reach the famous Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum in about 15 minutes, while the Jewish Historical Museum is  400 meters away from the hotel.

We will leave the hotel  at around 3.30 p.m. directed to Artis zoo,  passing through the Blue bridge built for the EXPO in 1883. We will arrive at 3.45 p.m. and the  cost of the ticket is 18£; the visit will last around 2 hours and 30 minutes. At the end of the visit we will return to the hotel. Dinner will be at  the  Jacketz  restaurant with typical Dutch food at  15 minutes by taxi. After dinner we will return to the hotel.

Day two

Eden hotel Amsterdam

Wake up call at 8 a.m., breakfast and then we start the day at 9.30 a.m. visiting the city center. On the way, we will pass Begijnhof, characteristic fourteenth-century district, until Dam square, where we will visit the Royal Palace for two hours and at the price of 8.50£ per person. Famous example of Dutch Baroque architecture, it is also known as the Town hall of Amsterdam because it was built to host the municipality. Later we will visit the New Church before having lunch at the Vishandel, a restaurant behind the square  where a quick Dutch snack can be made. In the afternoon we will visit the museum of Madame Tussauds also said "the wax museum" (ticket: 13£), later we will go into the red-light district to visit the old church and the hidden church, built in a private house in the years following the Protestant reform when the Catholics could not pray in public. We will leave at  4pm and take the tram to Westerkerk, a church where we will go up on its tower, the tallest of the city where we could have a view of the whole area; it is near  the old Anne Frank house, the last place we will visit before returning to the hotel by tram. In the evening we will have dinner at the Senses Restaurant, 5 minutes on foot from the hotel and our dishes will be chosen by the chef and not by us.

Day three

Begijnhof district

Wake up call at 8 a.m., breakfast at the hotel, and then at 9.30 a.m. we will catch the tram for the museum area all included in the I Amsterdam card and we will arrive at 9.45 a.m. The first museum we will visit is the Van Gogh Museum where there are a lot of his paintings. The visit will last three hours. After, we will have a break in one of the cafés of Vondelpark, the biggest and most beautiful park of the city near the museums. In the afternoon we will visit Rijksmuseum, the oldest museum in Amsterdam, including the most popular Flemish work of art, and the Stedelijk, the contemporary art museum. Then we will return to the hotel with the same tram. In the evening we will have dinner on a cruise along the canals so we can admire the city at night. The cost is 78£ per person.

Van Gogh museum

Day four

Wake up call at 8 a.m., breakfast at the hotel; we will leave at 9.30 a.m. and rent a bike to visit the city quickly. First stop-over: the flower floating market where we can buy tulips’ bulbs; then we will visit the Amsterdam Dungeon, a famous horror house. The visit will last an hour and half (ticket: 18£ per person). After, we will head the old Heineken factory: the 90 mins tour starts at 12 p.m. and we will see the process of beer production for 8.50£ per person. Once the tour finishes, we will relax at the near Spanish pub Barça, having a snack with tapas. We will reach the botanical garden by bike where we will observe many different plants’ varieties plus the famous butterfly conservatory. We will end our trip at the Nemo Science Museum, the biggest scientific park in Holland. The entrance is free along with the map. Before going back to the hotel, we will return the bikes and then we will take the Inter-city directed to the airport two hours before the flight scheduled at 9.40pm.. There our Amsterdam tour will finish. We will be back in Italy at 11.35p.m.
